Transcend M5 Multi-Card Reader

Image
Transcend has released its M5 Multi-Card Reader that does not require you to lug around additional adapters, and all five of its card slots have been clearly labeled in order to prevent any confusion as to which-card-goes-in-where. Supported card formats include SD, SDHC, MMC, CF, xD, the entire Memory Stick range, miniSD and microSD. There is no word on pricing, but you will be able to choose from either pink or ivory colors when it is available.

Duplii Handset from Verzio of Singapore

Image
Verzio of Singapore has launched the Duplii cellphone - touted to be the first dual-SIM phone with tri-band 3G in the world. Very little is known about how its dual-SIM functionality actually works, but Verzio has mentioned that it supports "simultaneous dual mode standby" and is "switch-capable between two incoming calls." Features include a 2-megapixel camera, a 2.2" QVGA TFT display, an expandable memory card slot, and an integrated audio and video player. Too bad the Duplii will be released only in the Philippines at this point in time, and will be launched globally sometime in Q1 2008 with a recommended retail price of $350 - not too shabby, I say. The design could be worked upon further though.

Nokia New Headsets

Image
Nokia has just released two new headsets that makes sure your MP3 listening experience does not interfere with an incoming call and vice versa. I guess it pretty much works in the same manner as the current headphones that come with Nokia's N Series handsets, allowing your MP3 file to continue where it was stopped once you hang up the call. The Nokia WH-600 and WH-700 are headphone cans and in-ear models respectively, featuring in-line volume controls. Too bad they're still shackled by a wired connection - somewhat amounting to a no-no in this day and age where Bluetooth and RF reign supreme.

Solar Taxi Attempts to Circle Globe

Image
Louis Palmer from Switzerland will be attempting to go around the globe in his solar-powered car. His long journey began last year when he set out from Lucerne, Switzerland last July, and over a year he has traversed Europe, the Middle East as well as India. This three-wheeled, two seater comes with a "Taxi" sign that offers rides to whoever is interested in his journey to create history. Louis will be in Bali, Indonesia this week. The Solar Taxi pulls a trailer along with additional solar panels, resulting in a total cell area of 65 square feet. To date, Louis has covered nearly 9,000 miles and ought to make his way to the US sometime next year before he reaches home sweet home.
