LG Release Watch Urbane 2, Android Wear's First LTE Smartwatch

Image
LG has hit the ground sprinting when it come to smartwatches. One of the first out the door with the original G Watch, followed by the G Watch R, and the Watch Urbane this spring. Now, they’ve got yet another smartwatch to sell—and this one is an Android Wear first. The LG Watch Urban Second Edition, let’s just call it “new,” comes with LTE, much like the original Urbane’s South Korea equivalent. However, unlike that first Urbane that used LG’s own WebOS software, the new Urbane uses Android Wear, which is probably the wearable OS you actually want to use. The shtick? The Android Wear watch is equipped with LTE, meaning it has its own SIM–and, yes, it’s own phone number. LG says it’s working with carriers to make to numbers as seamless as possible. It also houses one of the biggest batteries in a smartwatch yet, at 570mAh. One problem: It’s massive. When I wrote about Huawei’s new smartwatch, I felt like 11.3mm still edged on just a little to clunky. Well, LG is turning it up t...

LG V10, A Phone with 2 Screens and 3 Cameras

Image
We’ve come to expect unusual things from LG. After all this is the company that put buttons on the back of phones and even made some of its handsets self-healing. But the newly announced LG V10 might just be one of its oddest phones yet. Because with the V10, LG decided one screen wasn’t enough and stuck a second one above it. This second screen is a 2.1-inch 160 x 1040 display that comes in at 513 pixels per inch and can stay on and show you the weather, time, date and battery life when the main screen is off. Turn the main screen on and it will switch to showing shortcuts to your favourite apps. Then if you get a message or call while playing a game or watching a video the second screen will alert you to it so as not to interrupt what you’re doing. Dual screening It’s a sound idea, but when that main screen is already a 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 display (for the same pixel density of 513ppi) you’re looking at one big phone. The innovation doesn’t end with two screens. The LG V...

Virgin Mobile Offers LG Flare Valentine Phone

Image
Virgin Mobile jumps aboard the Valentine's Day bandwagon by offering a pink version of the clamshell LG Flare, and as usual, apart from the external difference in its paint job, everything else inside remains the same including Bluetooth connectivity and speakerphone function. The LG Flare is meant to be an extremely basic handset, so don't expect to do wonders with this apart from keeping in touch via SMS and phone calls. Of course, each purchase of this pink LG Flare from Virgin Mobile will see $5 being donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. Might as well surprise your mom or girlfriend this Valentine's Day if they have yet to own a phone and do a good deed at the same time! $29.99 is all Virgin Mobile is asking for.

Rumor: Windows Mobile Inside New LG Smartphone

Image
Rumor has it that LG will be preparing a Windows Mobile smartphone, and the one which we see here could be it. It share a lot of the LG Prada's styling cues, and also resembles the KU900 as well. Word on the street has it that this smartphone will be powered by Windows Mobile 6 as expected, bringing GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as UMTS to the table. HSPDA is still unconfirmed, but that would be a bonus if included. Other features on the grapevine include a WVGA display (800 x 480 resolution) and a camera of unknown megapixel count. Well, let's just sit this one out and wait for an official announcement to get a clearer picture.

YouTube-enabled LG KU990 shows up online

Image
Similar to LG Prada phone, the KU990 is a keypad-less phone with a big 3" touch screen. While it is not sure if it is the next LG Prada phone, the new KU990 support HSDPA data connection now. Inline with the recent LG announcement on YouTube support, this phone will let you watch YouTube on your phone or submit video to Youtube from your phone directly. The LG KU990 has a giant 5 megapixel camera with built in flash module (Xenon Flash?). It looks like you can switch between macro or normal mode on the camera itself, but the best feature on this camera will be the capability to record video at 320 x 240 resolution and 120 fps. Memory storage will be supported by the microSD card slot. The phone will also let you listen to FM radio, or use the Muvee video editor to edit your recorded video. Other than the nice features, the site dislike the thickness of the LG KU990, which make it un-comfortable to slot into your pocket.
